Women and Nature in the Arts, Sciences and Letters Exhibition Opening Reception

Celebrate the opening of the Lloyd Library and Museum’s latest exhibition, Women and Nature, featuring some of the most unique items created by women from Lloyd collections. The exhibition will feature works by naturalists, botanists, mycologists, horticulturists, and explorers, including pioneers of scientific illustration Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717) and Elizabeth Blackwell (1707-1758), daughters who were taught to paint the illustrated works of their fathers, Elizabeth Albin and Eliza and Sarah Maund, and designer of over 400 gardens, Gertrude Jekyll. Two of the more visually stunning books on display will be Familiar Indian Flowers by Lena Lowis (1878) and Illustrations of the Fungi of Our Fields and Woods  by Sarah Price (1864). The Lloyd Gallery will feature Four Seasons at Burnet Woods, photography by Rama Kasturi.

Members of Muse Cincinnati Women’s Choir will preform at 6 p.m. Free and open to the public. Light refreshments.
