David L. Lentz is a Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. Formerly he served as Director of Graduate Studies at the New York Botanical Garden, Vice President of Scientific Affairs at the Chicago Botanic Garden and as President of the Society for Economic Botany. He has been the fellow at the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library in Washington DC since 2021, continuing his research for a book project on ancient Mesoamerican agriculture
